Lydia Mary is a textile designer and illustrator specialising in screen printing and hand dyeing to create highly illustrative and contemporary fabrics and paper goods. Inspired by a continual passion for folk and naïve art, she draws on its imaginative use of narrative and decorative nature to inform her work.
She favours the traditional process of screen printing as it allows her to experiment with colour, layers and composition but importantly not compromising the character and quality of her illustrations. She uses vivid pallet and eclectic mix of patterns and imagery to create playful ranges of textile home wares and accessories, pursuing a passion for traditional craftsmanship.
Lydia is a graduate of Manchester School of Art and a participant in the Craft Council’s Hothouse programme 2016.
